Weekly Shopping Trip to Wal-Mart, and Target too

Whew! I am beat. I worked three twelve hour shifts and then came home and did my weekly shopping. I am pooped! But I managed to get most of the deals I wanted. Not all, but most. Now, don’t be surprised, but I did some heavy duty stocking up on a few things. The prices were just too good not to. Don’t worry, I didn’t clear any shelves. I made sure I left some behind. OK, OK… I will admit it…. I did take all the creamy peanut butter, but I left a lot of crunchy. :D

Here is the breakdown at Wal-Mart:

*CoffeeMate Creamer, Regular Price $2.88, Used MQ for .55 cents, Paid $2.33 total

*KY Jelly x 2, Reg Price $2.84, Used 2 MQs for $3/1, FREE MoNeYmAkEr of .16 x 2 (Made .32 total :D )

*Renu x 2, Reg Price $1.47 Used 2 MQ for $2/1, FREE MoNeYmAkEr of .53 x  2, (Made $1.06 total :D )

*Mio’s x 10, Reg Price $3.78, PM to Buy 1 for $3.78, get 1 for $1, Used 9 MQs for $1/1, Paid $1.49 each or ($14.90 total)

Total at Wal-Marts regular prices, no Qs or PM = $143.12

Total at Wal-Mart regular prices, plus Qs = $109.57

Grand total after PM and Qs = $52.01

That is a 64% savings!! YIPPEE!!

Since I didn’t get everything I wanted at Wal-Mart, I did the convenient thing and headed over to Target. Target makes their price matching difficult and their policy is NOWHERE NEAR as generous as Wal-Mart. But that is a blog for another day.

Here is the breakdown for Target:

*Planters Peanut Butter x 26, Reg Price $2.99, PM for $1.79, Used 4 MQ for $1/1 and 11 MQs for $1/2, Paid $1.21 each or ($31.54 total)

*Progresso Classic Soups x 12 (Different flavor), Reg Price $1.99, PM for .88 each, Used 3 MQs for $1/4, Paid .63 each or ($7.56 total)

*Baby Lips Balm x 3, Reg Price $2.99, Used 3 Target Qs for $1/1 AND 3 MQs for $2/1, FREE, MoNeYmAkEr of .03 :D

*MorningStar x 10, Reg Price $3.69, PM for $2.98, Used 5 Target Qs for $1/2, Paid $2.48 each or ($24.80 total)

Target total without PM or Qs = $148.96

Target total at regular prices, with Qs = $116.96

Target total, with PM AND Qs = $65.34

This is a total savings of 56%!!! WOOHOOO!!

About ladywithcoupons

Hello. My name is Jackie and I am a mother of three daughters and a Nanna to one sweet granddaughter. Two of my daughters have fledged and the last one will be leaving the nest in the next few years. I am soon to be divorced and completely on my own when it comes to paying the bills. Over the past few years, it has become increasingly difficult to manage the finances in a way to leave an adequate amount behind for paying for groceries, gas, small luxuries and, dare I mention, vacations and entertainment...lol. I have to admit I started watching "Extreme Couponing" on TV after catching a glimpse of it while at work. It amazed me that people were able to get such large stashes of groceries for such a small amount out of pocket (OOP). How did they do this? Where were they getting the coupons? How did they get so many coupons? And most importantly, how could I do this? This is how I found many blogs to help me get started. I started researching all the ins and outs of couponing in October 2011 and really dove in after the holidays were over. In the past couple months, I have discovered many deals and started a "stash" of my own. I am fairly new to this, but I find it fun and rewarding to bring home my treasures each week. The best part of it is being able to share my good fortune with my kids and friends. And now, I hope to share my finds each week and get feedback from others. Together, we can go "Shopping with Coupons"!

  1. NICE JOB! ;) I rarely shop at walmart, only because they gave me such a hard time with some printable smart source coupons I had. They wouldnt take it??? I didnt bother talkin with the manager, so I bought the stuff without the coupons and left. It was so hard to purchse the stuff without a coupon!! haha

    • I have been there. Unless I REALLY need it now, I won’t buy it at that time. I politely ask that they remove it from the order. The Stayfree $1/1 coupons I just recently printed and the $2/2 PlayDoh coupons wouldn’t work at WalMart this week either. Their policy states printables must scan to be accepted. I can’t blame them if it won’t scan. I just remove the items from my order and use the coupons at another store. Ya win some, ya lose some :/ Thankfully, we win more than we lose :D
